On a Personal Note...

To Make a Long Story Short

Becoming a freelance writer has been a long-time dream.

I have a genuine passion for business, holding an MBA from Isenberg School of Management.

I'm an Alzheimer's daughter and proud unpaid caregiver to my dear mom, who we lost in August '18. I remain a fierce Alzheimer's awareness advocate in her memory.

I credit yoga and meditation with helping me persevere through my cherished mother's illness and death.

Julie A Rivers Camping

Some Things I Love

  • Tent camping and hiking
  • The whole of nature, especially forests
  • Swimming and just being in the water

My Yoga Practice

I became a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) because yoga became a part of me while losing my mom. I've heard it said somewhere: we don't practice yoga to get better at poses, we practice yoga to get better at life.

Julie A Rivers Bali

Travel, in General...

The furthest place I've been to is Bali, which is where I am here. My favorite thing is going to a new place and learning all about its past, its culture, people, plants, animals. Often you learn things that make you want to cry, but being blind to history doesn't erase it.

...And to the Caribbean, in Particular

I've been to about 15 different islands! I can't get enough of those mesmerizing colors or the fascinating amalgamation of so many beautiful cultures. This is Curaçao; once I reach Bonaire, I'll have done the ABC Islands!
